Hungary BESS market 2026 | Merchant hybrid PV + storage | Hungarian solar PPA & grid auction
For three years, every conversation about Hungarian PV ended in the same place: the grid is closed. As of April 2026, a new Hungarian government is forming with a super-majority. The auction the market was waiting for is on hold; everything is on the table. What replaces the old framework, and how fast, will define the next decade. The 7th Solarplaza Summit Hungary is the first major industry forum on the other side of that reset.
The grid was closed; the build-out was not. Hungary closed 2025 at 8.4 GW of solar, six years ahead of target. The battery fleet is on track to grow 5x in twelve months. The first 15-year corporate PPAs are signed. The first project-financed merchant hybrid in CEE is in the ground. The Summit is the working room where C-level IPPs, banks, traders, offtakers, and regulators decide which Hungary shows up in 2027.
