Up Close with Solarplaza: Melih Can Güngör on the Greek Solar Market & Latest Technological Trends

The Greek Solar PV market has been experiencing noteworthy developments in the past year. To put this growth into figures, in 2020, Greece completed over 900 MW of new solar generation capacity. In the past months, a wide range of new investment plans were announced in Greece, from mega solar PV projects to battery and electric vehicle production. This shows that Greece is set to become one of the most promising solar markets in Europe.

In this Up Close interview, Melih Can Güngör, Sales Manager of the South Eastern European Market at Trina Solar, gives us key insights into the recent growth and potential of the Greek solar market for the upcoming years.

Melih will share his knowledge of the current state of the Greek solar PV market. Since 2018, after the financial crisis, Greece has been showing significant growth again, stimulated by new auction schemes, governmental support, and ambitious targets to simulate renewable energy production.

Melih will also dive into the technological trends helping to boost the Greek energy transition and larger scale solar projects. Among them is the recent industry move to apply more efficient modules of 210 mm cells and the holistic approach combining modules, trackers and storage as a complete solution to the power plant.
