The year 2020 was emblematic for the Portuguese PV industry. In 2020, the industry crossed the 1GW threshold of cumulative PV capacity. At the end of October, the installed capacity of all renewable sources even reached 14.5 GW, and PV accounted for about 3% of the national power demand. Last year, Portugal also approved the “National Plan for Energy and Climate for 2030,” a robust and audacious model that targets 80% of renewable energy by 2030.
