Dutch Solar Seeking Space to Grow Further

Author: Marco Dorothal

The Netherlands has experienced a stellar year in 2019. With 2.4 gigawatts (GW) of newly installed solar systems, the Netherlands’ solar energy capacity achieved a major milestone by reaching around 7 GW in 2019. The market grew 53 percent in terms of cumulative installed photovoltaic (PV) capacity, making it the third fastest growing PV market in Europe.

Nevertheless, such a surge of solar energy capacity does not come without its fair share of bumps and barriers. Further growth is possible, but the market is starting to experience significant challenges due to major land and grid constraints. The solution lies in not only expanding the grid, but also dual function projects and new technologies.

Read about current grid issues, dual function projects, and get up to speed on new technologies in the market in our latest report.
