Successful German PV Market Briefing 2012 prepared participants for challenges in 2012

On April 18th, the German PV Market Briefing 2012 took place in Frankfurt a.M. In an interesting, full day, participants from the entire PV industry listened to in-depth market presentations, got involved in panel discussions and exchanged opinions with other participants.

Bonn/Frankfurt. Representatives from the entire PV industry came together at the German PV Market Briefing 2012 on April 18th, in Frankfurt a.M. With this event, EuPD Research, Solarpraxis AG and KPMG Frankfurt have provided a platform, where information and opinions of market experts as well as industry stakeholders on further challenges and strategies can be shared at the highest level.

More than 100 participants took the opportunity to discuss, in five sessions and three panel discussions, the current development of the German PV market and the challenges, chances and opportunities that lie ahead. As at previous events, one specialty was the interactive voting system that enabled participants to share their opinion anonym, immediate and in real time. With surprising results: The question, if the recently adopted novel of the EEG will last for the next 12 month, for example, was unanimously neglected. 76 percent of the participants voted with “no”.

Highly occupied panel discussion
Topics discussed in the market presentations were, amongst others, the review of previous years and a forecast of the following; system prices in the segments, reachable IRRs, distribution through installers and the significance of storage solutions in the future.

Highly occupied panel discussions gave participants the opportunity to discuss current and future challenges such as the EEG change, new business models for de-centralized electric energy supply as well as the future of the photovoltaic technology, with representatives of the government, industry and media.

“The event shows that in tough times like these the need for reliable data for the market development is very significant. Furthermore we saw a strong requirement for the exchange and discussion of opinions on current developments as the market and participants are faced with similar problems”, concluded Verena Grollmann, Project Manager of EuPD Research.

The networking event was supported by KPMG Frankfurt and sponsored by Munich RE and Ipontix. Partners were Berlin Solar Network, Deutsches CleanTech Institut the global network initiative Joint Forces for Solar – Global, SolarValley Mitteldeutschland and IPVEA. For the first time the event was accompanied by the new media partner of events organized by EuPD Research, the Internet TV portal SolarPV.TV.
