India Cuts PV Subsidies
SOLAR NOVUS TODAY - Following the lead of European governments that are cutting solar subsidies as the price of panels drops, India’s largest solar program announced it will cut the rate it pays utilities by one-third.
According to a tariff order on its website, the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission will pay PV plants commissioned after 28 January a rate of 9.98 rupees per kilowatt-hour for the first 12 years. Solar plants finished before the deadline receive 15 rupees. The rate will be further reduced to 7 rupees per kilowatt-hour for the next 13 years.
