Germany and Italy Hint at Delays to Feed-in Tariff Cuts

BUSINESSGREEN - There were mixed signals for Europe's booming solar energy sector this week, after news that Germany's ruling coalition is to delay proposed cuts to its feed in tariff scheme was followed by an unexpected postponement to Italy's revised solar subsidy scheme.

The Italian government had been expected to announce reforms to the country's feed in tariff incentive scheme today. However, a spokesman for Economic Development Undersecretary Stefano Saglia, who is in charge of the reforms, told Reuters that the announcement had been delayed.

Italy's feed in tariffs for solar installations are amongst the most generous in the world and the government is widely expected to cut the level of support in line with falling solar panel prices.
