Dow to locate solar shingle plant in Michigan
Midland is the preferred site for Dow Chemical Co.’s first full-scale production plant for Powerhouse-brand solar shingles, the company announced Feb. 3.
Midland-based Dow said the business could employ 1,200 jobs by 2014. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. is considering up to $140 million in economic incentives for the plant.
The solar shingles are already being manufactured in a small-scale market development plant in Midland. Dow said it has already invested $100 million to develop the injection molded shingles.
