China Solar Tariffs May Match Coal Power by 2020, Xinhua Says
BUSINESSWEEK - July 28 (Bloomberg) -- China’s solar-power tariffs may match those of electricity produced by coal-fired plants by 2020 as the country accelerates the development of cleaner energy, the official Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday, citing comments from Liu Qi, a deputy director at the National Energy Administration, at a conference in Nanjing.
Solar-power tariffs may fall to between 0.6 yuan and 0.8 yuan a kilowatt-hour by 2020, and China’s solar-power output capacity may rise to 20 gigawatts by then from about 5 gigawatts by 2015, Xinhua cited Liu as saying.
