Big Apple turning green as NYC triples solar power production
BUSINESSGREEN - Solar projects atop police stations, schools, and garbage truck garages have helped the city of New York more than triple its output from PV panels.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced over the weekend that 10 projects on city-owned buildings had been completed, increasing the City's total solar capacity to 648 kilowatts - enough, he said, to power 143 households while cutting 205 metric tonnes of CO2.
