Field Service Engineer, EMEA

Report Line – General Manager, EMEA, and Director of Service, Chint Power Systems, in a matrix scheme

Location – Open

Overview Primary function of the Field Service Engineer is to provide service, maintenance and warranty remediation for installed PV inverters, from 1φ and 3φ string inverters to central inverters . The candidate will also provide technical and after-sales support to customers, including assistance during installation, commissioning and start-up, firmware upgrades, set-up of monitoring solutions (own and third party’s) as well as equipment and parts replacement. He/she will also coordinate with Service team at headquarters, Logistics & Operations as well as with existing Service Partners fulfillment of all necessary document and RMA process for material handling. The candidate will also support Chint Power Systems Service Partners providing training and guidance on all service related procedures.

T he candidate will coordinate customer support with the Pre-Sales and Sales Team. T he Field Service Engineer will also follow-up customer’s quality complaints, product failures, root-cause analysis ensuring on-site data collection and prompt feed-back to the Service, Quality, Design and Operation teams at headquarter. He/she will also provide the customer regular updates on the problem solving progress of their requests/complaints for increased customer satisfaction.

The candidate will be responsible for primarily handling issues for customers located throughout Europe, although other areas of travel may be required. On occasion, the Field Service Engineer will also be required to attend trainings and meetings at different Chint Power Systems locations. The candidate must have good communication skills to effectively interface with customers as well as with all levels inside the Chint Power Systems organization.

 

Description of Duties

 

  • ·         Be the regional expert and execution lead for field service best-practices, for highest customer satisfaction.
  • ·         Perform commissioning and star-up as well as field service (on site trouble shooting and repairs) for central inverters at key projects and on assigned or emergency customer requests at various locations..
  • ·         Perform Preventative Maintenance for Equipment when and where applicable.
  • ·         Support communication and monitoring solutions (of both Chint Power Systems and approved third parties) 
  • ·         Provide technical support and training to Customers and Service Partners.
  • ·         Timely preparation of Field Service Reports and fulfillment of RMA procedures using electronic applications.
  • ·         Manage spare inverter and parts inventories and support Logistics/Operations material handling.
  • ·         F ollow-up customer’s quality complaints, product failures, root-cause analysis ensuring on-site data collection and prompt feed-back to the Service, Quality, Design and Operation teams at headquarter.
  • ·         Provide the customer regular updates on the problem solving progr ess of their requests/complaints for increased customer satisfaction.
  • ·         Coordinate local resource on service activities, assist to manage local service inventory, Service Partners on the goal of service cost and customer satisfactions.
  • ·         Frequently working on-site, isolated from office environment.

 

 

Special Qualifications or Background Needed

 

  • ·         Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering and 5-7 years related work experience.
  • ·         Frequent Travel to and from customer locations.
  • ·         High degree of autonomy and excellent teamwork skills also on remote basis.
  • ·         Customer oriented person with professional demeanor.
  • ·         Excellent written and communication skills in English and at least one more primary European language.
  • ·         Engineering technical skills for assigned products including:
  • -       Working knowledge of CE standards and other local Country Standards as required.
  • -       Thorough knowledge of assigned Chint Power Systems’ products.
  • -       Knowledge of power systems, power electronics and controls.
  • -       Knowledge of PLC programming.
  • -       Knowledge of applications in which the products are applied.
  • -       Strict compliance with Field Service and Safety Procedures.
