As far as the 2014 list is concerned, the following ten IPOs met with success, raising millions of dollars from institutional investors to raise expansion capital. The value of IPOs stems from the fact that they give private companies the opportunity to become publicly traded enterprises, allowing money to flow freely and pass back and forth through the hands of investors.
Interestingly, the biggest IPOs of 2014 were for solar yieldco’s as was discussed in the previous piece, Top 10 Solar Yieldco’s of 2014. All major IPO’s were downstream in the value chain, as investors seemed to have taken a liking to solar finance and installation companies in 2014 for example, meaning that upstream players, such as solar manufacturing companies, did not make the final cut for this list.
This year’s Top 10 solar IPO’s from around the world are ranked according to the market capitalization by the end of the IPO date.
